Each function work independently, so you can either let all functions work at the same time or only turn one or some of them. Please note: shower head size: 35.4 x 11.8 inch; 5 way thermostatic high water flow rough in valve with trim, each function's water pressure and water flow can be adjusted by knobs, it requires 3/4 inch hot and cold water pipes lines. Each function runs all together, combo or separately by the faucet.
